ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line as we know it is a broadband technology or data communications technology that makes use of  fixed line copper that originates from your closest telkom exchange and terminates in your home. The same pair of copper used by your telephone is used for your Broadband connection or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. The word ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line means that the speed is not the same in both directions, namely upload and download speeds.

The distance an ADSL works over a pair of copper wires is directly related to the thickness and length of that copper wire installed at your home or business.

Most ADSL connections are able to work to a distance of +/- 5.5km but this distance could be more, based on the quality of your copper and the type of adsl modem used.

Where can I download the uncapped ADSL application forms ?

Computer Wiz has for your convenience attached the ADSL application forms directly to this post.

We can provide any consumer with just about any broadband solution within South Africa.

Please click on the required ADSL or iBurst application form and download it to your computer and then complete and return the uncapped adsl or iBurst or 3G application form including the required vetting documents.

If you are deciding on an ADSL broadband solution then please make sure of the following requirements.

• Include a certified copy of the account holders ID and
• Proof of residence providing the physical address  provided on Telkom or municipal account.

When calling Telkom on 10217, ask for  the following :

• Have Telkom confirm an ADSL port availability check or perform yourself.
• Give them the existing Telkom telephone number where ADSL service is required.
• You must have a fully working Telkom line, if not
• Unblock your prepaid line to a fully paid Telkom line to allow you to apply for ADSL.
• You must provide them with your Telkom telephone number
• Tell them you are applying for an ADSL port.
• That you are choosing your own ISP-internet service provider  MWEB and
• You are doing a self install ADSL
• Your  ADSL  line speed will be 384kbps or 512kbps or 4Mbps. ( customer choice )
• That you need  a reference for your ADSL application  and
• That you need an order no for your ADSL port ….ends with the -51.  (Please keep this on hand as I will ask for this at time of installation.)

If you decide on iBurst as your broadband connection, then we need:

• Mark and select your required iBurst package on page 2 of the application form unless you are buying the equipment then it is seen as a month-month contract.
• Copy of ID
• Proof of residence / an account that arrives at your home showing your physical address.
• Copy of payslip
• Three months bank statements – first page of every month only.
