Windows XP or Vista or Windows 7 USB ports not working ?
Windows XP and Vista including Windows 7 has a habit of turning the power off to your USB devices ?
This is a common problem that is experienced by many customers.
Windows by default is allowed to save power by turning the power off to the USB ports.
The solution to the problem is straight forward.
Turn off the Power Management to the USB ports and your computers network adapter cards.
The ethernet wifi and bluetooth devices power will be affected if left unchecked.
How do I do this you may ask.
- Goto your Control panel and then
- Click on System and then Hardware and then
- Device Manager.
- Turn off the Power Management to the various devices by
- Unchecking the Power Management as indicated below.
- Remember to Uncheck the Power Management to your USB ports too.
- The reason for this is that some customers only use the USB port on the iBurst modem.
- Make sure you have applied the settings to every USB Root hub.

If you are using a dial-up internet connection for longer than one minute then financially it makes sense to rather choose a broadband connection.
What is broadband you may ask? The following are different broadbands on the market today.
- iBurst – a wireless broadband and the most cost effective Internet option available. No Telephone line required.
- ADSL – an internet connection which makes use of your telephone line and the entry level adsl is slower than iBurst.
- 3G – a wireless broadband which should only be considered if you know how to manage your broadband usage and or if no other service works in your area.
- WiMax – a QOS broadband with a speed of 512kbps which is rather geared for businesses as the cost is rather expensive.
Many customers enquiring about an affordable internet access would make use of keywords as mentioned below in trying to obtain a reliable internet service provider.
