DSTV XVIEW

by on Oct.14, 2011, under Computer Wiz - Blog

Have you heard about DSTV XVIEW ?

What is XVIEW you may ask ?

  • Xview allows you to view  two DSTV channels at any given time by either using your old SDPVR or SDVIEW decoder that is an analogue receiver or
  • Use  an HDPVR with another HDPVR or a single HDPVR with either another SDPVR or the 1110  and or the 1131 decoder or
  • By using 2 x 1110 decoders or
  • By using 2 x 1131 decoders or
  • By using a 1110 and a 1131 decoder.

Installing the Xview system or setup varies in price based on the following requirements and or your setup.

There are 2 different HDPVRs that use either a twin tuner or a quad tuner.

HDPVR with 4 tuners require a quad or SATCR LNB and then you still require the additional LNB for your second decoder.

My suggestion is that you also make sure you install an 80cm Aluminium dish to cope with the HD channels.

Breakdown of costs to install an XView setup as follows and this is just a guide as every installation will differ based on your hardware and layout of your installation as some folk prefer to have additional feeds to other Television sets be it CRT or flat screen LCD or LED TV’s.

  • Aluminium Dish 80cm @ R 750
  • Twin LNB @ R450
  • SATCR LNB @ R950- R1200
  • 2×4 Multiswitch @ R250-R300
  • 2×6 Multiswitch @ R350 -R400
  • Splitter @ R110 -R150
  • T pieces @ R20
  • Coax feed per run @ R250
  • 90 degree bracket for mounting dish @ R80
  • TV-eye for 3rd TV @  R200

Please know that some houses have flat rooves and here the coax may need to be run on the outside of the building at an additional cost based on time constraints while other houses may have 1 or 2 firewalls that prevent us from feeding the coax to other rooms. In a situation where we need to feed coax through these firewalls we need to use a masonary drill to provide a hole for this coax.

5 Meter HDF 195 SMA male to SMA female

by on Sep.17, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog

Looking for either 5m or 10m coax to extend your existing iBurst Omni directional antenna ?

The connectors used are sma male to sma female specifically for the HDF 195 coax.

This should work for the omni directional iBurst antenna or the Flat panel iBurst antenna.

The cable is expensive and there are alternative ways in obtaining the same results.

Use cat 5 ethernet cable in place of the coax.

Give Computer Wiz a call and we will guide and assist you on the best way to install your iBurst external antenna.

Costing of cat 5 ethernet cable is R50 per 5 meters versus the R200 excluding shipping for the coax.
