Generic Host Process for Win32 Services problem and iBurst
by computerwiz on Jun.13, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog
My computer keeps loosing or dropping my iBurst internet access broadband connection once the following error occurs.
- Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem
What is the fix for this problem ?
- The quick and easy reboot will work but this does not solve the problem.
I am using the iBurst modem via the USB port connected to Windows XP .
- Turn on your firewall as the 1st solution to this problem or
- Go to start then find the RUN option then type cmd
- then type netsh and hit the enter key then
- type winsock then hit the enter key then
- type reset and hit the enter key and then reboot the pc.
- The 3rd solution is to enter the registry by typing regedit in the run option
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE — SYSTEM — CurrentControlSet — Services — Browser — Parameters
- Find the key IsDomainMaster
- Set its value to False
- Restart the computer
- The 4th solution is to Search for a virus
- The 5th solution is to use your Ethernet connection on the desktop modem rather than the USB port
- If non of the above works then install SP3 for Windows XP as the 6th solution.

iBurst WAP – Wireless Access Point and iBurst
by computerwiz on Jun.13, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog
I have iBurst as my broadband and now I need to share my broadband with the folk in my office or at home.
What equipment do I need to introduce a WAP – Wireless Access Point ?
- Linksys Router WRT 54GL
How do I configure the router to enable the wireless access point ?
- Use your browser internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox to gain access to the router.
- Default ip address is 192.168.0.1
- Username is admin and
- Password is normally left blank.
- Just setup basic security to start with such as WEP with a passphrase.
- Use the key that is generated once passphrase is entered in the notebook.
- Remember to save before you leave the router.
Price of the Linksys router is R 1100.
You could buy yourself a cheaper alternative such as SMC or D-Link but the Linksys
will be the best solution as it has the latest and more security than the less expensive wap routers.
