by on Sep.17, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog

Are you having poor reception and or signal with your iBurst modem ?

Are your download speeds very slow ?

Then fit the iBurst external omni directional antenna or the flat  panel antenna.

Place the omni directional antenna as high as possible on an extention tube or follow the instructions.

The antenna covers the 1760MHz to  1810 MHz frequency band.

Ask for the Omni A0072 iBurst antenna.

Included is the pigtail that interfaces with the 5m coax which then connects to the iBurst modem.

5 Meter HDF 195 SMA male to SMA female

by on Sep.17, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog

Looking for either 5m or 10m coax to extend your existing iBurst Omni directional antenna ?

The connectors used are sma male to sma female specifically for the HDF 195 coax.

This should work for the omni directional iBurst antenna or the Flat panel iBurst antenna.

The cable is expensive and there are alternative ways in obtaining the same results.

Use cat 5 ethernet cable in place of the coax.

Give Computer Wiz a call and we will guide and assist you on the best way to install your iBurst external antenna.

Costing of cat 5 ethernet cable is R50 per 5 meters versus the R200 excluding shipping for the coax.

Email clients for Linux and Windows

by on Sep.07, 2009, under Computer Wiz - Blog

Pick up your email from any computer anywhere in the world.

If you need an email account that works and that actually scans your emails for viruses then ask for an Atlantic email account.

If you need a free email account then sign up for a free gmail account. Use the gmail as your alternative or main account as this will allow you to import it into your email client.

Once you migrate to windows 7 please note that you no longer have a free email client such as outlook express or windows mail that was supplied as part of the operating system.

Most ISPs allow you to pick up your email and or create an email by using your browser intead of an email client such as:

  • Outlook Express
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Thunderbird with a rating of 3 out of 5
  • IncrediMail
  • Becky  for Windows is rated at 4 stars and really good
  • KMail  for Linux and rated with 4.3
  • Mulberry is  cross platformed and free and  rated at 3.7  and really good
  • Pegasus mail
  • Pine
  • FoxMail
  • Eudora
  • PocoMail includes a callendar and planner
  • The Bat

Nothing stops you from using an email client as mentioned above while you are using your own computer at work or at home.

It is good practise to have a second email account in the event that your first email account fails.

Learn to be proactive when using a computer and always be prepared for the unknown that may occur.

Backup your important data including your email client store folder at least once every two weeks.
